Vegan Hot Crab Dip Dupe

Vegan Hot Crab Dip Dupe

This hot crab dip dupe is so close to the real thing that it is a bit mind blowing. The texture is spot on due to the palm hearts and you are able to play with the seasoning to get it exactly as you'd like it.

Equipment

  • Food Processor

Ingredients

  • 1 Can Palm Hearts 398 ml can
  • 1/2 Jar Marinated Artichoke Hearts 170 ml jar
  • 1 Tbsp Marinate from Artichoke Hearts
  • 1 tsp Old Bay Spice adjust to preference
  • 2 Tbsp Vegan Mayonaise
  • 1/2 Lemon juiced or 2 Tbsp of lemon juice
  • 4 Tbsp Bread Crumbs
  • 1 sprig Green Onion Roughly chopped
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 Small onion Optional
  • 1 tsp Oil Optional

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
In order to get the most crab-like texture, I like to slice the palm hearts lengthwise prior to adding to the food processor.
Add remaining ingredients to the food processor and pulse until you get your desired consistency.
Saute onions in oil until caramelized and set aside.
Scrape the dip into an oven proof dish and bake uncovered for 8 minutes. Add the onions to top and serve immediately.
  • Alternatively, you can easily use this as a 'tuna' type melty sandwich. Remove the breadcrumbs and top with a vegan cheese and broil for a moment or two.
